Creative Peoples Collective

The Creative Peoples Collective (CPC) is a youth driven social enterprise whose key purpose is to create and promote pathways for young people to participate in and have a voice through the creative arts.

Established in 2006 the CPC has been responsible for helping to grow the youth events and hip hop scene in the Northern Rivers of NSW. Key activities include creative workshops in areas such as song-writing, dance and music production and events coordination.

The CPC Web Portal will offer an exciting resource for young people in our region and beyond. It wil provide a tool for connecting and communicating with forums and young artist profiles. It will also host the unique ONLINE HIP HOP DEBATE (coming soon).

The region’s biggest celebration of youth arts and culture kicks off National Youth Week Celebrations across the Northern Rivers on March 26th 2011.

Running from 12pm-5pm alongside the river Evans Head the festival offers youth a chance to step up and shine at the Breakamove showcase stage or in hip hop and extreme sports competitions. Or to kick back to the sounds of live bands or funky deejays. With creative workshops including tumbling and aerial circus and dance, heaps of great kids activities, plus diverse food and art markets Crankfest offers something for the whole family.

Brought to you by Richmond Valley Council (in partnership with the fatherhood Project, Creative Peoples Collective Inc. and Mid Richmond Neighbourhood Centre) this is a free event showcasing the talents of youth from across the region and beyond.

Australia Counci funding awarded for 2011

The CPC will be putting together another theatre show next year. We recently found out that our application to the Australia Council for the Arts Community Partnership - project with public outcome - was SUCCESSFUL!

In October we presented the compelling '2 Stones 1 Bird' which explored climate change & responsibility from a youth perspective with a fusion of artforms. This included hip hop, Indigenous Australian Dance, African Dance, Contemporary Dance, aerial circus digital media and more. It culminated with a hip hop debate performance on the statement 'Climate crisis, Not our fault, not our responsibility. With over 70 people in the cast the show played to two full houses.

Next year we'll be using everything we learnt, the template we created for developing our show and our unique approach with the hip hop debate to create and present another show around the theme 'sense of place' in a project called 'Standing Now'.

We'll be working with young people engaged in  our programs across the region, including a focus on Coraki and Yamba and we are open to LOTS OF COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT! to be part of it get in touch with us now!
